From 1 July, companies with more than 100 employees have to start doing something new: they have to track how much CO2 their employees emit when they come to work or are out for work. Although this scheme was supposed to be introduced as early as 1 January, the government felt that companies needed longer to prepare.
This new regulation sounds like a huge job, and many companies have no idea how to go about it. Currently, there are no hard rules about what happens if you emit too much CO2. But, the idea is that based on this info, the government will determine what is normal and what is not.
At Lease.Car, we see this as a unique opportunity. It is a chance to show how innovative and sustainable your company is. It forces companies to think about how to make business travel more efficient and greener. And let's face it, in a world where customers and employees increasingly value sustainability, that can only be a positive thing.
While some may grumble about the extra administration, we at Lease.Car think it's a step in the right direction. It's important to show that your company is taking responsibility for its impact on the planet. And who knows, maybe together we will find ways to reduce those CO2 emissions significantly.
